Holding space for indigenous Moluccan arts & culture
Artwork by Ade Imanda
Our current pop-up unfolds as a living, breathing artist residency in collaboration with artists Y99 Studio, MATARUMA and Joris Titawano.
Drawing inspiration from the myth of the deity Hainuwele, the artists hold space for research, dialogue, and artistic exploration.
This evolving exhibition both honors our roots and opens pathways to new narratives for the future. We look forward to sharing this journey with you — follow us online to stay updated or visit us from 25 October! .

Open from 12:00 – 18:00
Second, third- and fourth-generation Moluccan female artists explore their identity and roots by drawing on the stories of their ancestors and role models from Moluccan history. Inspired by the Moluccan freedom fighter and resistance shero Martha Christina Tiahahu (04.01.1800 – 02.01.1818), they pay tribute to her legacy.
Through music, storytelling, dance, and spoken word, a diverse group of artists share Martha Christina’s story and connect it with their own perspectives on hope, courage, strength, and the ongoing struggle for freedom and justice.
An intimate evening filled with music, spoken word, dance, and storytelling.
Line-up: Nel Lekatompessy, Sem Tanate & Sarah Sahertian, Moya Wenno & Sascha Lekatompessy KAI, Elisa Steenaard, Gunung Batu Muda and Safa Liron!

Who are our ancestors, and what do they mean to us? Who are our foremothers, and what have we learned from them?
This exhibition invites you to reflect on these questions and turn your attention to the
women who came before us—our foremothers. What wisdom have they passed on? What legacies do we carry forward, and what do we choose to leave behind?
